Site Name: Tata Steel Scunthorpe
Location: Blast furnaces
Client: Project &Technology department
Programme: 16 weeks
Scope: To install supports and 1600mm diameter gas main x approx. 500mtrs
Zones 1 & 2 were effectively an essential replacement scheme. The new main up the side of North Lincs road replaced a very long section of main that had a very convoluted journey through the coke ovens, making it very difficult to access and maintain. Some of the pipework was leaking, some of it dated back to the 1930's. The new main provided a shortcut to consumers that allowed to take the old leaking main out of service.
